Viking Supply Ships
Viking Supply Ships AS (VSS) is based in Kristiansand. The company is owned by Kistefos AS in Oslo. VSS owns and operates anchor handling vessels (Trans Viking Icebreaking & Offshore AS and Partrederiet Odin Viking, both 50%), platform supply vessels (SBS Marine Ltd., 100%) and North Sea standard barges (Viking Barges KS, 97,5%).
Trans Viking Icebreaking & Offshore AS
Trans Viking Icebreaking & Offshore AS was established in March 1998. The company is a 50/50 joint venture between VSS and Rederi AB Transatlantic in Skarhamn Sweden.
The three combined AHTS and icebreakers Tor Viking II, Balder Viking and Vidar Viking of KMAR 808 ICE design are owned by Trans Viking Icebreaking & Offshore AS. The vessels are linked to a general contract with the Swedish Maritime Administration for icebreaking in the Baltic Sea from January through March as required.
VSS holds chartering and marketing responsibility for the vessels, while Rederi AB Transatlantic holds crewing and technical management responsibility.
Rederi AB Transatlantic and VSS also jointly own the AHTS vessel Odin Viking (Partrederiet Odin Viking). The vessel is a MOSSMAR 424 design built in 2003 and is fully operated by VSS.
Trans Viking Icebreaking & Offshore AS has 4 AHTS new buildings on order from Astilleros Zamakona in Spain of VS4622 design. The new vessels will be delivered during 2009-2011.
SBS Marine Ltd.
SBS Marine Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of VSS. The company has six Platform Supply Vessels in its fleet, whereof five are of VS470 MKII design and one is of UT705 design. Five of the vessels are on long term charter to Transocean in India while one of the vessels is on a long term charter to Talisman Energy in the UK.
Viking Barge KS
Viking Barges KS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of VSS and consists of 7 flat top barges of "North Sea Standard", dimensions 300 ft x 90 ft. The barges are modern and are primarily built for the offshore industry. VSS has entered into an agreement with Taubåtkompaniet AS / BOA Offshore AS in Trondheim, Norway for chartering and marketing of the Viking Barges. Technical management of the barges rests with VSS in Kristiansand.
